In daily life, people often use approximate number words to express blurred numbers, including numbers, time, age and so on. The express of approximate number words are earlier contacted and also frequently used in the primary stage of Chinese learning. The mainly content of this paper is frequently used approximate number words for foreign students. The author summarized previous research results on the expressions of approximate number and also combined with interrelated outline and textbooks to determine and analyses the research objects. The author analyzed the syntactic structure and semantic explanations in detail to explore methods and strategies in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part is introduction, in which we introduced the achievement on the study of expressions of approximate number in Mandarin Chinese, also the research target and meaning, the research objects, the source of the corpus. The second part determined research objects by collecting and analysis the statistics of approximate number words’studying in the primary stage from related outlines and textbooks. The third part classified approximate number words, and looked for more detail on the distribution of syntactic structure. We also did a lot of comparative analysis of the words which are easily confused to reveal similarities and differences among these words in syntactic distribution. The fourth part mainly studied the scope of application of the approximate number words in the expression of quantity, time, age, distance, weight, price and other semantic analysis according to the expressions in the outline. The fifth part determined the difficulties for foreign students in the primary stage of learning the approximate number words according to the content of the above, and put forward the corresponding teaching strategies. The sixth part mainly summarized this paper.
