Research On Relationship Between Childhood Trauma And Dissociation Experience With Patients Suffering From Borderline Personality Disorder

Objective:To explore the relationship of the traumatic experience in childhood and the dissociation experience in adulthood of the patients with borderline personality disorder.Methods:Patients in Wuhan hospital for psychotherapy are tested with Personality Disorder Questionnaire 4(PDQ-4)to filter the scores higher than six(including six)in borderline personality disorder.At lest two doctors(one reseach member and one not) evaluate the patients by DSM-Ⅳdiagnoses system respectively.The patients are diagnosed borderline personality disorder by more than 2 doctors are in research group.30 patients were randomly chosen in the research group and anther 30 normal subjects from a college as normal control.The date was evaluated for the two groups between the ages of 18-65 years,not excluding the ones who suffer from severity body and psychiatry diseases,anamnesis difficulty and drug abuse.They all completed measures:Childhood Trauma Questionnaire(CTQ)and dissociation experience scale (DES).These scales are put into computer for SPSS for the result.Result:①the total score and scores of five subscale of CTQ in patients with borderline personality disorder are all obviously higher than the controlled normal,and there were a significant difference in the two groups(P＜0.05).②The patients of borderline personality disorder have higher score in DES than the normal ones.The mean scores of reseach group and normal one are 33.70±9.61 and 8.57±12.92.(P＜0.01).③In research group,the total score and the scores of subscales of CTQ correlated with the DES score(r:0.309～0.504).Conclusions:①The frequency of childhood trauma and adulthood dissociation experience in patients suffering from borderline personality disorder are higher than normal.②The relationship of childhood trauma and adulthood dissociation experience in patients suffering from borderline personality disorder are very close.Dissociation experience is an important clue to childhood trauma experience.Emotional abuse, physical abuse and emotional neglect are even more harmful for child than physical neglect.More attention should be paid to them.
