Reading is the main way for people to obtain the information from written materials,and the reading ability will influence students' English learning and their future jobs.As an important part in curriculum,curriculum resources play a crucial role in teaching.For English,its curriculum resources are very rich,the development of the curriculum resources,however,has long been neglected.In fact,the development of reading resources in Junior College English can not only stimulate the reform of College English Teaching,enhance teachers' ability,and strengthen the cooperation among teachers,but also develop students' autonomy. Developing and making use of the up-to-date reading resources in English teaching, which match the students' English level and close to their interests,can help the students to develop and make use of the most suitable English and Chinese reading resources actively.According to the Input Hypothesis,Moderu Information Processing Theory and Schematic Theory,we can have an inspiration:In the process of developing the reading resources,teachers should try to develop the reading resources which belongs to the "comprehensible input" containing i+1,and students need to develop and make good use of Chinese and English reading resources in order to enrich their own reading experiences and schemata knowledge as well.Before the Quasi-experiment of developing and making use of the reading resources,there were significant differences in reading abilities between the experimental group and the control group,and the result of the reading comprehension tests showed that the experimental group did worse than the control group in reading comprehension.However,after several months' study,the experimental group made greater progress than the control group and no significant differences existed.From the research and the experiment,we can conclude:Developing and making use of the reading resources in the course of Junior College English teaching can improve students' reading ability.There are six chapters in this paper.Chapter 1 is the introduction,mainly introducing the main idea of this paper.Chapter 2 is literature review,talking about the terms used in this paper,researches at home and abroad,and the comments on those researches.Chapter 3 is the theoretical base of the paper,mainly talking about the Input Hypothesis,the Information Processing Theory,the Schematic Theory and their inspiration to English reading.Chapter 4 is the research on the development of reading resource.From the investigation of the textbooks,the test paper of PRETCO and CET-4,we can say that it is necessary to develop the reading resources in Junior College English teaching.Chapter 5 is a Quasi-experiment.According to the result of the experiment,we find that the experimental group has made a progress on reading. Chapter 6 is the conclusion.From the research and experiment,a conclusion can be drawn that it is helpful and useful for students to develop and make good use of the reading resources.
