This present paper explores the structure of"X化",the structure is used commonly in written Chinese especially in political style and literature comment. Based on the theories related to social linguistics and Cognitive linguistics. It also studies the syntactic function of"X化"in detail, applying the concept of hierarchy in grammar research to inspect the grammar characteristic of"X化". After that, it gives an account of the rank which attenuated in this kind of function. This paper is divided into six parts:Chapter One introduces the current research on"X化", at the same time, it also points out the purpose of the paper and the linguistic material comes from.Chapter Two makes an investigation of how"X化"forms, as well as its syntactic functions. It describes the characteristic of"X"from three aspects: syllable, grammar, structure and type.Chapter Three is the most important part of this paper. It probes into the syntactic function, semantic expressions and pragmatic value of"X化"when it is in sentence.Chapter Four explains why so many"X化"exist in modern Chinese by the way of social linguistics and psychological linguistics.Chapter Five carries on the analysis to the grammatical function attenuation phenomenon,inspects grammaticalization process and its condition of"化". We hold that quasi-suffix"化"is from grammaticalization of morpheme"化"containing notional significance of monosyllable, and its grammaticalization needs certain semantics and syntactic condition, at the same time is correlative to analogy, language contact and social effects.Chapter Six is the conclusion that summarizes the major arguments proposed in the article.
