EFL teachers and researchers have been constantly searching for the best solution possible to such problem as "How can an EFL teacher teach well and which factors affect his or her teaching performance in EFL classroom?". Given the external factors( teaching material, teaching method, teaching environment and so forth) are similar, the internal factors or teachers' personal factors play a critical role in determining whether EFL classroom teaching proves successful or not. Teachers' personal factors are defined to be "some characteristics of teachers themselves, such as temperament, gender, belief, age, specialty, language ability, IQ, education background, teaching motivation and so forth" (Huang Peifang, 2001:1). On the top of all these characteristics, temperament, gender, belief, age and specialty of teachers are more influential as far as the author is concerned. This thesis attempts to study the possible correlation between the five personal factors of EFL teachers and their teaching performance in EFL classroom for the purpose of gaining insightful information for enhancing the teaching quality in EFL classroom.
