The Mysterious Narrative Of Jia Pingwa's Novel

JiaPingwa is a controversial novelist in modern literary world and has concerned widely due to the diversity and depth of his works. Critics elaborate his works in sociology, history, human nature and psychology. Meanwhile, they analyze the rich mystic matter, symbol and mystic phenomenon contained in the works from the angle of religion, philosophy, and folklore. Holding my respect towards the predecessor I try to discuss the relation between JiaPingwa's novel and the folk-culture, uncovering the mystic veil in his work and treating of the sib ship between literature and the folk-culture.As is known that Jia firstly drew people's attention by his works on the changes of the Chinese country life. But after , his works began to involve in the Chinese traditional philosophy and go beyond the social theme of "the modern revolution" in China. The aesthetic appreciation also changes from describing the truth of life to pursuing a mysterious atmosphere in the work.This paper discusses the changing process from the following three aspects: 1) Why Jia Pingwa changes his novel to a mysterious style? The reason is not only his pursuit of a new aesthetic appreciation style, but many factors including the time background, the writer's growing environment, educational, and cultural influences, etc. 2) How Jia shows his mysterious style in the novel? In his works, the style is shown as a "mysterious atmosphere" and a "fantastic imago". Jia adds what he sees and what happens in the common life into his works, all of which show a deep mysterious image through artistic treatment in the works. 3) What is reflected in the real life by the mystery? Jia uses his works to criticize the reality and his care for the society.
