Chinese music and art of calligraphy are twin sisters living in the same land of culture. Although they belong to two different sorts of traditional art, the interreact and relation between them is quite strong. By means of comparing similarities and differences between art of calligraphy and erhu performance, this thesis finds that different sorts of art can learn strong points from each other and offset their own weakness and can get development and improvement from mutual contact or mergence. By comparison between art of calligraphy and erhu performance, this thesis explores the enlightenment on erhu performance that brought by internal element of art of calligraphy, and discovers similarities between art of calligraphy and Chinese music in common taste, image of linear structure and represent of strength. By borrowing from art of calligraphy, enrich erhu performance in emotion, emptiness and reality, vigor and flavor, and represent of skill and spirit, and broaden the view of erhu performance.
