YANG Yi-qing was a famous and important minister in the middle period of Ming Dynasty. People usually notice his achievement in political circle but neglect his effort in literature because of his high post. Actually, YANG Yi-qing was an excellent poet besides his good station as an officer. It is necessary to study the Shi Cong Poetry Collection written by YANG Yi-qing in literary view. The research of YANG Yi-qing's poetic works includes some aspects: the stages of his inditement, the poetic content and style of every stage, the artistic feature of his poems especially the style of Tang and Song, the personality of the poet and the aesthetic character and the poetic skills. To study those artistic features of YANG Yi-qing's Shi Cong Poetry Collection by LI Meng-yang's criticism is a good method to point out YANG Yi-qing's literary achievement. YANG Yi-qing made a great influence in the literary world in the middle period of Ming Dynasty. He was one of good friends of LI Dong-yang, who was the literary chief, but he was unattached to Cha Ling poetry school. YANG Yi-qing also did much work to Cha Ling poetry school in the aspect of sweeping the abuse of the Tai Ge style and turning the inditing vogue. He was the teacher of LI Meng-yang and KANG Hai, who were the most important members of Qi Zi school, and he influenced them immediately in the intention of literary revival and the inditing practice. In this meaning, YANG Yi-qing was a preeminent poet and the forthgoer of the revivalistic motion of poetry and prose in the middle period of Ming Dynasty deal to his particular status in the literary arena.
