The national concept is an important component of Confucian ideology. Confucius, Mencius and XunZi' s national thoughts are the theoretical origins and ideological foundation of the formation and development of Confucian concept. It has rich contents, such as the concept of discriminating between Hua and Yi, paying attention to the culture of Ritual, Yue and education, using advanced culture to educate and change unenlightened minority, governing different nations of China with different policies which suit them and dominating all nations of ancient China as a unified country. Confucius, Mencius and XunZi' s social background, personal experience and theoretical origins are different, their concepts of nation focused on specific contents, and because of the historical limitations, it still has some direction of discrimination, but from the perspective of historical development, the trend of Confucian national concept of Pre-Qin Dynasty is tolerance, compatible, harmonious and unified. The concept of recognizing the differences between Hua and Yi is gradually being de-emphasized, the desire of integrating the whole nations is gradually becoming stronger. The Confucian national concept of Pre-Qin Dynasty has some general characteristics, for instance it took China nationality as the orthodox race, treated minority with gentle opinions and educated them with morals, and considered all nations with compatible and containing views. The Confucian national concept of Pre-Qin Dynasty produced widespread and far-reaching impact on the political unity of ancient China, the development of ancient national policy and the ethnic integration as well as the deepening of the Chinese national cohesion.
