Research On Application Of Modularity In Design Of Exhibition

Despite its late start, China's exhibition industry has been growing rapidly in recent years; the growth rate is about 20 percent per year. The scale of the industry also expended promptly. But compared with the countries in which the exhibition industry is more developed, China's exhibition industry is still immature. Though the exhibition business volume increased year by year, the technology content stayed in a low level, and the waste of resources has become more serious. The key factor of China's exhibition industry remains in the primary stage is that the appliance used in exhibition has fallen far behind. Because of the limitation of the appliance's type, the majority of the exhibitors focused on stand-up wooden structures. Such one-time action caused tremendous damage to the environment indirectly. From the long-term point of view, it is not scientific either. On this basis, the thesis introduced modularity to the exhibition design, promoted the development of repeated use of removable exhibition appliance, drew the concept of the module to the design of the exhibition appliance, and illustrated the standpoint on the development of modular exhibition appliance and the issues to be resolved. The character of modular exhibition design, high technology content, could be an advantage to enhance the level of China's exhibition design. This is also the importance of the thesis.Firstly, the thesis illustrated the scholar background and situation of the study both from abroad and home, and explained the concept of exhibition design. On this basis, it analysis the basis of the application of modularity and its hinge and advantages, explored the tendency of its development, laid a foundation for the following study.After that, the thesis explored a number of manufacturers and companies of design with different size and type, analysis the utility of modularity exhibition appliance, including function, structure, costs and appearance. Also, it dissected the implementation of the modularity exhibition appliance in depth, analysis and proposes the concept of the module, put available implementing program, laid solid foundation for the empirical part of design.The final part is the empirical of modularity exhibition appliance design. It proved the feasibility of the study through presentations and case studies, and proposed some useful suggestion for the development of modularity exhibition appliance in China.The thesis analysis and explored the design of modularity exhibition appliance on the basis of related theory, combined with outstanding cases and a large number of related pictures. All in all, the thesis tried to be helpful for the development of the exhibition design of China.
