| This thesis takes the Chinese and Vietnamese reduplicated adjectives as the research object. Guided by the theories of clausal pivot and clausal government and directed by the triangle of "form—meaning—value" and the triangle of "Chinese and Vietnamese reduplicated adjectives" in study, the characteristics of reduplication forms, grammatical meaning, grammatical functions are studied, trying to understand thoroughly can they be translated properly. The paper is divided into the following five parts:Part one is an introduction to the thesis, in which some relevant researches are introduced, and the methods of research, the significance of study and main issues of the thesis are made clear.In part two we study the summary of Chinese and Vietnamese reduplicated adjectives.In the third part we take emphasis on the adjective reduplication (forms of AA, AABB, ABAB, ABB and A li AB) between Chinese and Vietnamese are explored from comparing points of view in this paper, mainly from the characteristics of reduplication forms, grammatical meaning, grammatical functions.In the fourth part the adjectives modify the nouns and play an important part in Chinese sentences. Only being understood thoroughly can they be translated properly.The fifth part is a conclusion in which the main ideas are summed up, and further thoughts are put forward.By far, there are no special thesis of comparative study on adjective reduplication of Chinese and Vietnamese. The thesis makes a comparative and systematic study on the reduplication forms, grammatical meaning and grammatical functions of the adjective reduplication of Chinese and Vietnamese on the basis of synthesizing the academic materials of the former linguists. It makes clear the differences and similarities of the adjective reduplication of the two languages especially some slight differences. At the same time, the author hopes to fill the comparative study vacancy of the adjective reduplication of modern Chinese and Vietnamese to some degree.
