A Survey Study On English Teaching Of Secondary Vocational Schools In Baicheng City

With the promoting of market economy and the good policy, vocational education has developed better than ever before. It's commonly recognized that English, as a required course, is very important, so English teaching in secondary vocational schools is paid more and more attention. But the present English teaching system in secondary vocational schools in Baicheng city is out of style and it can't meet the requirements of the new talents in new situation. How to improve the English teaching quality has become a big and emergent research topic of this city.The thesis conducts a survey study on English teaching of secondary vocational schools in Baicheng city. Questionnaires and interviews are used, in order to get an entire grasp of the present situation of English teaching in secondary vocational schools and to find out an effective way to solve the problems. The investigation focuses on the following aspects:English level of new students; students'study attitude and motivation; teachers'teaching and research; textbook. According to the questionnaire's statistics, the author analyzes the problems existing in secondary vocational schools in Baicheng. It also puts forward the strategies and approaches that will improve the English teaching quality in secondary vocational schools: as for students, we should stimulate their motivation of learning English, also we should cultivate students'positive affect and help them to form healthy individuality; as for teachers, we need to develop the English teachers' abilities to research and teach, and advise English teachers to establish good teacher-student relationship; as for teaching, we should arouse and foster students'interest in English learning, and improve English teaching with modern information technique; at the same time, we should help the students to form good study habit; as for textbooks, we should choose teaching material according to students'practical requirement.The thesis contains 6 parts:Chapter One illustrates the importance and necessity of this research topic by describing its background and the basic basement.Chapter Two presents a brief review of the research situation on vocational schools at home and abroad.Chapter Three introduces the research methods and research processes.Chapter Four conducts a survey study on English teaching of secondary vocational schools in Baicheng in form of questionnaires. Based on the questionnaire's statistics, the thesis analyzes the problems and the factors influencing the English teaching of secondary vocational schools in Baicheng.Chapter Five puts forward the strategies and approaches from the following aspects: students; teaching; teachers; textbooks, which will improve the English teaching quality in secondary vocational schools.Chapter Six presents the conclusions of the thesis.
