A Study On The Translation Strategies Of Wushu Terms

In view of the many existing problems regarding the mistranslation of wushu terms, which have hindered the modernization and internationalization process of the sport, this paper makes a deep analysis of the strategy of wushu term translation by using the methods of literature investigation, expert consultation and comparison between Chinese and English languages and cultures. First, the current situation of wushu translation and the influencing factors are analyzed from the perspective of translation studies, linguistics terminology and culture difference. Three basic principles for wushu technical term translation as well as practical translation methods and techniques are put forward, i.e. linguistic principle, cultural orientation principle, the combination of flexibility and acceptability. Then this paper concludes that the translation of wushu term should focus on the foreignizing translation strategy with the support of domesticating translation strategy. This is expected to lay a theoretical foundation for the work of wushu term translation in the future.
