The Chinese character is one of the oldest characters in the world. For thousands of years, it has been serving the Chinese nation. It has played an important part in the flourishing and developing of the Chinese nation. As a character in the ideographic system, the Chinese character has obvious characteristics in the aspects of grapheme, phonetic and meaning. The Chinese character records the Chinese language, but not records passively. It can make the Chinese language more precise and more perfect. Using the peculiar characteristics of the Chinese character, the Chinese language also forms the peculiar arts of rhetoric, which improves the effect of expression. The rhetoric of the Chinese character plays an important part in the Chinese language. However, people haven't paid enough attention to it. For a long time, the Chinese character has been considered a behind-times character, and the rhetoric of the Chinese character has been considered a paronomasia. In order to exert the rhetoric of the Chinese character better, this paper studies the rhetoric of the Chinese character.Trying best to collect detailed and complete materials, this paper studies the rhetoric of the Chinese character—the rhetoric of the grapheme, the rhetoric of the phonetic and the rhetoric of the meaning, from the three aspects of grapheme, phonetic and meaning. It also analyses why the Chinese character has such rich rhetoric capability. Finally, the paper concludes that the Chinese character has rich rhetoric capability and the rhetoric of the Chinese character is one important part of the rhetoric. Thus people should pay more attention to the rhetoric of Chinese characters.
