This dissertation starts with the discussion on the definition of "teaching model" and the analysis of other conceptions relate to it. Then, by using questionnaire and class observation, we compare the two teaching models used in Huawen college: the grammar-centered teaching model and the intuition teaching model. Our investigation involves students, teachers, textbooks and the teaching effect of the two models. Through this case study, we want to find out what advantages and disadvantages are in the grammar-centered model, which has been settled since 1980s and being used in most colleges. We try to consummate the traditional teaching model and make a progress in this field.From our point of view, TCSL model should reflect and assimilate the advanced theories in the correlative fields. A good TCSL model should be the representative that teaching Chinese according to the characteristics of our own language and putting enough emphasis on the Chinese characters. The requirement of students should be taken into consideration in order to stimulate the interest and potential of all the students and foster their ability to communicate in Chinese. Considering the different teaching aim, objects and other factors, teaching model shouldn't be one and only but be various and flexible in real teaching practice.
