The teaching of grammar is one of the contents in TCSL. In the grammar teaching, using the native language is a teaching strategy. As the elementary stage, learners could preferably understand Chinese grammar by the correct English translation, so the efficiency of the grammar teaching is improving, but in the real teaching situations, because of the translation mistake and the difference of the language, learners could easily misunderstand. This paper analyzes the translation and the explanation of the grammar in a TCSL textbook and classifies the errors into categories:the concept and the grammar points are not correct; the structure of the translation is complex;translating only the elements rather than the whole parts; inappropriate translation of grammar example and the difficult Chinese words; translation is not consistent; giving the explanation to the wrong sentence.Since sometimes the translator understand and translate the grammar concept in the wrong way, the suggestions are given:reducing the difficult technical term; the translation necessity and principle of example sentence;the translation and explanation should be simple and clear, and effective in helping the learner to understand and use the Chinese grammar properly.
