The Inspiration From Folk Paper-cut To Modern Graphic Design

Chinese modern visual design has been impact of Western design theory with the influence of the international design style, while the problem of intermational visual symbols proliferation and visual language aphasia becomes prominent. It's a great challenge faced with Chinese designers to design works with traditional humanistic spirit and time characteristicsPaper-cut goes back to ancient times and forms its unique graphic and visual cultural symbols with history tests and interpretation which is a typiocal Oriental art forms. The paper aims at discussing how to apply Folk Paper-cut to modern graphic designs and embody modern graphic designs withtraditional cultural characteristics. This article analyses Chinese folk paper-cut history development, its aesthetic characteristics and modeling concepts to summarize some modeling rules and their uses to modern graphic design. With some well-known modern graphic designs,the text analyze how modern flat graphic designs integrate paper-cut art concepts and forms empirically, but also makes an adequate analysis of Chinese contemporary design deficiencies.
