Hugo Wolf is one of the most outstanding German artistic composers in the later period of European Romanticism, in the history of Western music occupies an important position. Wolf devoted in Lied, a literature style of song, in his whole life. In his short life, left more than 300 Lieds for the people in the world, the being possible be called art song domain treasure. Wolf took writing as the center of music creation, took singing as the medium of poetry readings, sublimated the poem status to acme. The piano was not only as background, but also often acts as the role of poetry. Poetry, vocality and accompaniment complements each other, found the new thought for the German artistic songs, and pushed this literature style to another peak.This article presented by five parts: The first part introduces the development of German and Austrian artistic songs before Wolf's period. The second part mainly introduces Wolfe's life and important productions. The third and fourth parts are the main parts: Inquired into comprehensively the creative characteristics of"Gedichte von Eduard Morike", and has selected six songs , by specific analysis and singing tips to find the ingenious combination by Wolf between the poetry and music. The fifth part is the summary of the full text, and annotation of Wolf's works, as well as some ideas in teaching field.
