"Declamation" is a vocal music style between "narrative" and "aria",which can be traced to the art tradition of ancient Greek drama performance. The use of declamation in artistic songs originated from the German-Austrian artistic song creation which pay a lot attention to the poetry content and language.Declamation emphasizes imitation of poetry language, also the deep description of lyric content and emotion, and shows the artistic characteristics of combining of music and poetry in artistic songs.Being flexible and free, the characteristics of declamation make it a contrast with the linear lyric and singing melodies. Therefore the declamation has the characteristics of singing and reciting, which endow the declamation with dramatic quality and make it different from coherent singing melodies. So the declamation can keep the dramatic tension in the songs and become an important means for the composers to create art songs. This paper will take “Morike Lieder” as the background of writing to express from three aspects:the first part is to mainly explain the developing resources of the “declamation” and the classification of subjects;the second part is to mainly explain the characteristics of the declamation in the work “Morike Lieder”,combining the poetry text with composer's music creation;the third part is that hopefully by the analysis of the type “declamation”,the help of different musical styles to vocal music singing can be understand better.
