Hugo Wolf was one of the most outstanding Austrian artistic composers who had committed all his efforts to writing art songs.His art songs were characterized by a combination of music and language.During the creation process,Wolf was keen on citing the works of famous poets in the selection of lyrics,and composing based on the works created by the same poet at a specific time.All his efforts resulted in the birth of "Morike-Lieder" and "Spanisches Liederbuch" etc.In this paper,songs in"Morike-Lieder" with the theme of "love" will be selected as representatives for the analysis and research of the relations between poetry and music in Wolf's art song composing.At the same time,this paper will discuss the content,form,voice and melody of the work,aiming to generalize the relations between poetry and music in Wolf's art songs under the influence of Aesthetic Trend of Thought in the 19th century,and then further analyze their historical and aesthetic value.This paper amounts to four chapters,which can be divided into three parts.The first part is the chapter?,Introduction.The second part include Chapter ? and Chapter?.Chapter ? provides the development clues of art songs in the nineteenth century before Wolf and Wolf's art song composing.Chapterlll is based on the exploration of nineteenth-century art songs under the influence of poetic theory,which comes to Wolf's view on relations between poetry and music in his art song composing.The third part is chapter IV,which mainly analyze the relations between poetry and music in Wolf's art song composing from three aspects:word-painting,piano part and the composition of music and poetry after the introduction of the creation background of "Morike-Lieder" and the interpretation of the lyrics of songs in the work with the theme of "love".
