In recent years, higher vocational education has been developing sharply, and many education modes come into existence. Among them, Order-orientated Cultivating Mode, being a feasible and practical one, is widely accepted and popularized in many colleges and enterprises. The talents from higher vocational colleges and universities are mostly workers at the production line, and English is one important aspect of their qualifications, which also play a key role in the development of both the individuals themselves and enterprises. Then, in such a order-mode education, how to teach English? It has been a great concern to many vocational colleges.In such background, it is meaningful to study the status quo of English-teaching in the order-orientated cultivating mode. In this paper, the author intends to analyze the status quo of English-teaching in the order-mode education from the two angles: students and enterprises, together with the viewpoints from some related teachers. Meanwhile , Proposals for teaching reform are also discussed.Besides forewords, this paper is mainly composed of five parts. First, introduction of order-orientated cultivating mode. Second, surveys of requirements from enterprises of needed talents. Third,the status quo of the English-teaching, which fails to meet the demands of enterprises. Fourth, the concrete meansures to solve the existing problems. Fifth, the probable obstacles in the teaching reform.This paper aims at surveying the status quo of the English-teaching in the order-orientated cultivating mode and putting forward somg helpful proposals, hence to banlance the English-teaching at colleges with the requiremnts from enterprises, and to make students abtain the very Knowledge and skills that they need in their work. Only in this way can both schools and enterprises save their time and vigor.
