Gong Zizhen is the last famous ancient poet in China and he is also the first great poet in modern China. His poems show a unique value with brilliant characteristics of era, articulate criticism and predictive power. There is Buddhism philosophy throughout Gong's poems. This article studies Gong's poems and Buddhism philosophy. By analyzing Gong's poems, discuss the influences of Buddhism thinking way to Gong's poems writing, the relationships between Buddhism philosophy meaning and Gong's own philosophy of"Salvation"or"Escape"and the influences of Buddhism philosophy to Gong's seeking of art and poetry theory. From the perspective of Buddhism philosophy, hope to find a key to fully understand Gong's poems.This article has three main parts. The first narrate why Gong Zizhen studied Buddhism. From three aspects, at first realize the influences from Gong's family. Second, learn Gong's identification for Buddhism theory. Last, realize Gong's philosophy of"Salvation"corresponds with Buddhism philosophy. The second part mainly discusses the relationship between Gong's poem writing and Buddhism philosophy from aspects. 1. The correspondence of Buddhism thinking way andGong's way of observing the world 2 Buddhism philosophy meaning and origins of Gong's poems 3. The influences of Buddhism philosophy to Gong's seeking of art and poetry theory. The third part discusses the neoteric characteristics. The third part,Gong combined Confucianism and Buddhism and as a pioneer of reformer, Gong substantial influenced the modernization movements of the late Qing dynasty.
