Zhang Hu was a famous poet of mid-late Tang Dynasty whose poems were of great many subjects. Based upon the introduction of Zhang's life experiences in this paper, we try to make a comprehensive interpretation of his poems , explore the formation of his artistic style and get hold of the characteristics of his artistic creation. Zhang was well know for his palace poetry. Seeking after his political aspiration, he, in his sentimental poems , expressed a strong desire for high achievement and his admiration for those great ministers but with no self-abasement or feelings of inferiority. In his works on dance and music, he presented with craft Tang's flourishing culture of dancing and music along with its boom on national cultural exchange and integration. Thanks to his rich and colorful journeys, his landscape and temple poems are rich in characteristics. He's good at using various means to depict his objects and represent their features . Following his course, we can see that Zhang's achievement on poetry was not constrained to one style. Not only did he learn from his predecessors, he was also influenced by the poets of his time, such as Jia Dao, Bai Juyi and Du Mu, and then Zhang made his unique contribution. Instead of being invariable, the styles of Zhang's poems were multiple and manifold with a tint of Tang's social transformation . During the period of Tang and Song Dynasties while Zhang's poems were very popular, people tended to accept him from different perspectives of their own.
