From The Intentionality In The Language To The Intentionality In The Psychology

Contemporary American philosophy Searle inherited his teacher Austin's the theory of speech Acts and made a systemic argumentation to the speech Acts, Searle had discovered that the speech act contained human's psychological factor, Making a specific speech act always have to express the specific intention in the human mind .Searle thought the intention of the speech act is not intrinsic in the language, but drives from the mind. The psychological intention entrusts its satisfied condition with the language, in this way the language has the intentionality in the psychology, and make human's exchange become possible. In logic the intentionality of the psychology is the foundation of the intentionality of the language. Finally, Searle gives the intentionality by the biological naturalism explanation, the intentionality does not have special status, the intentionality and other psychological phenomenon equally all is the ordinary biological phenomenon.The main purpose of my article is clear off Searle's transformation from the speech act theory to the intentionality theory, and appraises this the theory significance of transformation .There are six part of my article , first part: Searle's intentionality question .To begin with the Searle's definition about intentionality ,analyze about the constitutive factor of the intentionality, these constitutive factors of the intentionality are also used as concept tool for analyzing the intentionality. Second part: the speech act and intentionality .Mainly introduced that Searle inherits and develops the speech act theory,and progresses into the theory of the intentionality. To analyze the reason of this progress, expound the intrinsic logical relation between the speech act theory and the intentionality theory. Third part: The psychological intentionality is the foundation of the speech act .The intentionality in the language isn't intrinsic, because the speech act is a physical behavior, itself isn't possible to have the intentionality, the intentionality in the psychology entrust the satisfied condition with language ,the real condition with the language is the satisfied condition with the intentionality, thus the language has the intentionality in the psychology, and make the human's exchange become possible. Fourth part: Intentionality background .The intentionality do not make an effect individually, but make an effect by the network of intentionality and the pre- intentionality background .The intentionality background is different with the intentionality, it is not the represented, but a marshal of unrepresented psychological ability, it is the foundation of forming the ability of represent. In this way, we describe how the intentionality works as a system. Fifth part: Intentionality finally ownership .To analyzes Searle's biological naturalism viewpoint, the intentionality as mental phenomenon is part of the nature like the biological digestion, the molecular movement and so on, the intentionality is a mentally phenomenon existed objectively, it cannot return to physical phenomenon, the intentionality is a characteristic of the brain, isn't independent outside the brain. Searle denied the explanation of the dualism and materialism, he considers these explanations will bring a dilemma about intentionality, Searle's way is to detach the psychological phenomenon as two levels, one is the mechanism macroscopic level; Another kind is the neuron process microscopic level, Looked from the causal relation that, these two kind of level description all is real, these high level causal character is effected by the structure of the lower level'element, and manifests in that kind of structure, two level processes reach the same goal, thus, make a conclusion his biological naturalism viewpoint is right. Sixth part: To appraise the Searle's intentionality theory. From Searle's intentionality theory goal, the way and the conclusion, I make an appraisal to the intentionality theory.The progresses in Searle's theory are from the research of the speech act to the research of the intentionality.
