| Ever since the 1990s,the Multiple Intelligences theory(MI theory) has become highly influential in the field of education in the USA as one of the guide-lines of its national education reform.America has now more than one hundred MI Schools that have achieved positive results.According to the theory,an unique mode of learning environment should be created to help the students enhance their multiple intelligences. In the aspect of teaching performance,the fundamental intention of MI theory is to introduce in teaching an open environment that enables the students' self-study and the promotion of their multiple intelligences.Attention is specially paid to the disign and operation of the institution environment,which is a crucial part of the classroom teaching.Through a description of the background and basis of the institution environment design in MI Schools,the paper explores its theoretical construction, presents the merit of its operation and analyses its substantial results,thus providing an useful reference for the quality education reform in China.
