Probe Of Acculturation And Cultural Identity Of Contemporary Chinese Americans

With the acceleration of globalization,immigration is becoming increasingly popular.For the particularity and importance of Sino-U.S political and economic relations,the Chinese American has been the most concerned group.However,due to the different cultural values of China and the United States,the acculturation process of Chinese Americans and their cultural identity are also emphasized.In order to make better understanding of Chinese Americans,this thesis analyzes the influencing factors in Chinese Americans' acculturation into the American mainstream society through acculturation theory.Furthermore,through case study the cultural factors undermining in the acculturation process of Chinese Americans are listed and analyzed.The thesis also analyzes the changing cultural identity of Chinese Americans from three stages and proposes some workable suggestions:improving ethnic culture integrating with the current situation in the United States;developing Chinese language education and Chinese language media;emphasizing the functions of Chinese mass organizations,such as Committee of 100.
