Background Data Analysis And Questionnaire Investigation In User Research

With the development of the society, the requirements of people become complex and diverse, it more and more emphasis "User-Centered Design", thus, it requires all-round user research. User research plays an important role in design; all kinds of user research methods, such as focus group, observation, interview, persona, scenario, usability test and so on are used in design.The paper introduces two methods: background data analysis and questionnaire investigations, including data-collecting mode, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, questionnaire investigations, at the same time, listing some practical case so as to illustrate more clearly.The main frame of this article can be divided into four parts:The first part introduce the situation of user research at home and abroad, conception, content, research methods, diversified definitions of user research. What's more, introduce situation experiment, questionnaire investigations. At last, illustrate research background, aim and significance. On one hand, it provides evidence for design, on the other, explore the application of method.The second part clarifies the various methods of background data collecting, for example, literature, including types, advantage and disadvantage of literature. What's more, make a comparison among the methods, and make out the environments and types of methods by illustrating instances. In addition, clarify the questionnaire investigations, including the aim, approach, attentive problems of questionnaire investigations, and make out a piece of questionnaire.The third part analyses the data which are collected from the data collecting methods mentioned above, including qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, for instance, card-sorting, content-analysis and so on. State the advantage and disadvantage of the methods, and put the methods into some cases to expound. At last, set forth the process of the questionnaire statistics, including questionnaire auditing, data recording and so on.The last part summarizes the discussion above and put forward the meet with the next step. Background data analysis and questionnaire investigations have its limits and the methods of observation and interview can make supplement with them. In addition, put forward some limits of background data analysis and questionnaire investigations, it requires profound subsequent research.
