Playing an important role in overseas Chinese language teaching,Culture teaching is crucial for Chinese textbooks,as Chinese textbooks are one of the most direct and approprient ways to spread and inherit Chinese culture.Although writers pay great attention to culture introducing,culture misreading still more or less exists in passages of Chinese textbooks.This paper chooses seven sets of Chinese textbooks as object of study.These textbooks are written for overseas Chinese children by organizations from Mainland of China,Taiwan,Chinese and overseas Chinese schools cooperatively and overseas institutes independently.The paper researches texts about Chinese culture that may occur culture misreading:firstly,analyse main texts which may occure culture misreading of the seven sets of textbooks,and classify all the misreading culture items;secondly,compare distributions of the texts in different sets;and thirdly,according to statistics from a survey classify the affirmed texts and search for the reasons which bring culture misreading.Based on the research above and the problems of texts selecting and editing in Chinese textbooks,the author give some advices on Chinese textbook writing and Chinese culture teaching.
