In recent years, with its rapid economic development, comprehensive national strength and ascendance of its international status, more and more foreigners are learning Chinese because of their keen interest in the politics, economy and culture of China.Obviously, foreigners learn Chinese not only to grasp a communicative tool, but also to use available Chinese to understand Chinese and Chinese culture more deeply. In order to adapt to this trend of development,we must strengthen the teaching of culture.Cultural teaching also needs cultural materials to support. Therefore, the quality of cultural materials is of crucial importance. It is of great significance for the effective teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. In this paper, two comparatively authoritative middle-level cultural teaching materials,Chinese Culture(editor Han Jiantang,Beijing Language and Culture University Press),Talking Chinese about Culture(editor Wu Xiaolu,Cheng Zhaohui,Beijing Language and Culture University Press)as an example comparative analysis,Based on the theory of intercultural communication, this paper discusses the existing problems in the teaching materials of Chinese as a foreign language and puts forward some suggestions. This article is divided into four parts. The first chapter is introdution. It mainly introduces the reasons of selection, literature review, research significance, research content and research methods. The second chapter compares two cultural textbooks in terms of arrangement style and knowledge structure. The third chapter systematically compares two cultural textbooks from cultural content, text, vocabulary, practice and other aspects. Finally it proved that Talking Chinese about Culture is more suitable for use as a cultural textbook than Chinese Culture. The fourth chapter discusses the problems existing in the compilation of these two different types of cultural materials and makes recommendations accordingly. It is hoped that this will be a useful complement to the preparation of the current textbook for the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, and it will also provide some references for teachers who teach cultural courses.
