The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary,a reference book with strong universality,is a medium-sized dictionary which is to mainly record Mandarin glossary.Compared to those previous editions,the most obvious change is that the 5th edition published in June,2005 marked the part of speech.To label the part of speech in Chinese Dictionary,one inevitably get a problem,the most intractable Concurrence Words problem in word study,and the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words is an important type of it.Although a great many scholars mentioned this issue in their works,there is no paper to do systematically specialized research on this issue in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary.On the basis of comprehensive consultation and combined with previous research findings and the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words' theory,this paper will place emphasis on the discussion about the required condition on grammar and semantics when Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words are embodied in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary in order to provide some reference on how to deal with the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words in Dictionary.The introduction of this paper will generalize the actuality of Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words' study,address the achievement and contribution which those previous scholars made on this issue,point out the existing dispute,and then discuss and study it thoroughly and systemically.In Chapter One,this paper will mainly depict the general situation of the embodied Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary,and then classify them from an angle of grammar and semantics so as to get a clear and comprehensive cognition about it.The Chapter Two,the core of this paper,will discuss condition on grammar and semantics when Concurrence Words are embodied in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary.There are all together 3 grammar conditions:whether to take object;whether to take object component in virtue of certain assistant conditions; whether to overlap according to verb's form.Semantic condition is to analyze each Semantic character according to the classification which contains Adjective-Causative Concurrence word,Adjective-Conative Concurrence word,Adjective-relative Concurrence word and Adjective-autonomous Concurrence word so as to conclude tenable semantic condition of the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words.At the end of this chapter,it will discuss father The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary's contribution to the compilation of a dictionary in aspect of dealing with the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words.On the basis of archetypal theory,the Chapter Three will discuss the cause of the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words,eliciting that the existence of the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words is according to the features of word's representative and continuity.And the language's economic principle reveals the existing cause of the Adjective-Verb Concurrence Words from an angle of pragmatics.Besides,as an open category,contemporary Chinese consequentially is under the influence of occidental language and other dialects from its inside.
