The problems of Modern China "world viewpoint " breaking as well as the lack of social values caused by it had been highly concerned by a number of researchers. Historians grew up in the late nineteenth century to early twentieth-century were more or less shrouded in the shadow of this issue. This article takes a great historian of that period --Yinke Chen for the study, and take the relationship between the "historical exist" and the "historical being" as an entry point to analyze the architecture of Chen's philosophy of history. In chapter one, the article attempts to analyze the background, the meaning and role of his concept "abstract ideal" , point out that"abstract ideal"has two different level meanings ,one is the " the unison of history and confucianism" and the other is new " identification of YI-XIA"."The Unison of History and Confucianism " is derived from the Confucian tradition of historians and is the succession and development of"the sixfold canon is all history"of Hsueh-cheng Chang. In Chen's ideology, " the unison of history and confucianism " stands for a kind of social morality, the ontology of moral, which is the national spirit abstract on the basis of "Bai Hu Tong " Gang-Chang theory." Distinction between YI-XIA " puts forward as a fundamental of independent nation-state, is the application of " the unison of history and confucianism " delivered into social and moral reality. In chapter two, the article uses "'YI-XIA' division" to examine the application of Chen's "race", "nation", "descent" and "culture" ,then gives an analysis on Chen's special concept "cultural class".In chapter three, the article uses "the change of 'YI-XIA' " to examine Chen's opinions on dynamics of historical development and changes in the history of ethics,on the historical figures. Finally, the paper advocates Chen's opinion on social morality, and the ideal form of society which he constructed. The paper points out that Chen's philosophy of history , just relies on his thinking that there was some impact of social morality behind every nation in the history, and the meaning of historical events, is not on history, nor is "history" itself , but is the main body of historical events toward "abstract ideals" which is a very good convergence of the infinite social morality; during this process, the nation must use the new "identification of YI-XIA" to deal with the relationship between the world."Abstract ideal"is the answer towards the problems of Modern China "world viewpoint" breaking .It is the inheritance and development of traditional of traditional concept of"the unison of history and confucianism"historians of as well as" identi- fication of YI-XIA"."the unison of history and confucianism"gives a blueprint for traditional historians transformation into modern world, the new "identification of YI-XIA" is about how to learn from other cultures without losing the dominant position of the nation. This article holds that Chen's"abstract ideals" is a reasonable idea to deal with the relationship between history and present, China and the West,as well as the Chinese nation and other nations .We should pay enough attention to his theory.
