The Research Of Auxiliary Verb In Bao Pu Zi

Auxiliary verb is an important genus of verb, and it has its own particular grammatical feature. This paper makes a detailed summary and research on auxiliary verbs in baopuzi waipian from aspects of, studies and analyzes it in term of linguistics, aims at revealing the general picture of Chinese Auxiliary in mediaeval times.This paper divides into four parts.Part I, introduction . In this part, the paper makes an abstract of the situation of baopuzi waipian and these auxiliary verbs used in it, introduce baopuzi waipian and Guo Hong, the author, carding the thread of study on auxiliary verbs. Then, the paper summarizes the present situation of research on auxiliary verb, brings up the opinions by comprehensive analysis.PartⅡ, the using condition of auxiliary verb in baopuzi waipian. In this part, the paper classifies the auxiliary verb in baopuzi waipian, details analysis on the usage of every single auxiliary verb, and present the auxiliary verb system contained in baopuzi waipian. There are 16 auxiliary verbs in baopuzi waipian which have been divided into 4 sorts. The paper analyzes every syntactic structure containing auxiliary verbs, and makes a simple summary of every auxiliary verb application.PartⅢis the condition of comparative research on auxiliary verbs in baopuzi waipian. Compare each application of auxiliary verbs in baopuzi waipian and observe the distinction of the usage and frequency of all sorts of auxiliary verbs. The paper selects some works 0f pre-qin dynasty including shangshu, shijing, zuozhuan, hanfeizi to make longitudinal comparison, analyzes the similarities and differences between using auxiliary verbs and the situation of changing and development of auxiliary verbs. Meanwhile, it also selects the works from middle ancient times , such as shishuoxinyu and lunheng which was contemporaries with baopuzi waipian to compare the application of auxiliary verbs and find out the similarities and differences between them. By synchronic comparison and diachronic comparison, we could observe the condition of comparative research on auxiliary verbs and conclude the evolution law of auxiliary verbs,the system of auxiliary verbs is dynamic, according to requirement of language, the old auxiliary verbs vanished and the new produced, but the core grammatical features of auxiliary verbs,"used before the verbs, generally express the modal meaning", didn't change much,the major changing is about application range.PartⅣ, concluding remarks. Make a summary on the basis of analysis from previous paper .The application of auxiliary verbs shows some imbalance. The system of auxiliary verbs constantly changed and developed from pre-qin dynasty to middle ancient times; The range of auxiliary verbs gradually obtained consistency;"auxiliary verbs +VP"is the most important structure standard to judge auxiliary verbs; the access to the structure of"not……not"is another important grammatical features of auxiliary verbs; but the structure like"不欲不","不愿不"never presented, and didn't appear the evidence of germination.
