To investigate the mechanism of spatial orientation representation of Chinese verbs and its influential factors, we designed four experiments to carry out the research, and each experiment contained 30 university students randomly. Experiment 1 used experimental materials and paradigm of Richardson's research in 2001 to examine whether Chinese verbs had spatial orientation representation. The result suggests that in the framework of sentence, like English verbs, Chinese verbs also have spatial orientation representation. In the selected Chinese verbs, all the concrete verbs have spatial orientation representation, but some abstract verbs don't. Experiment 2 chose 30 new Chinese verbs and used Richardson's experimental paradigm to investigate whether all Chinese verbs had spatial orientation representation. The result shows that in the framework of sentence, not all the Chinese verbs have spatial orientation representation. Whether concrete verbs or abstract verbs, only some of which have spatial orientation representation. Experiment 3 revised Richardson's experimental paradigm. Presenting Chinese verb alone, it examined whether Chinese verbs had spatial orientation representation. The result suggests that on the condition of presenting Chinese verb alone, part of concrete verbs and abstract verbs have spatial orientation representation. Experiment 4 chose Chinese concrete verbs and Chinese abstract Chinese verbs, which had spatial orientation representation, making two kinds of sentences, and used Richardson's sentence paradigm to examine whether Chinese sentences would influence Chinese verbs'spatial orientation representation. The result shows that Chinese sentence is one of the influential factors of Chinese verbs'spatial orientation representation. It can not only promote, but also inhibit the formation of verbs'spatial orientation representation.
