A Comparative Study On The Doctrine Of Life's Extrication Between Wang Guowei And Schopenhauer

Wang Guowei is not only the ancestor of the 20th century's relationship history between Chinese aesthetics and Western aesthetics, but also the founder of modern aesthetics in China. Schopenhauer is a well-known German voluntarism in 19th century, and is a pessimistic philosopher whose doctrine has far-reaching impact. Suffering could be one of the subjects of life. Schopenhauer's voluntarism philosophy put the will of life as the nature of the world, and regards suffering as the whole thing of life. Therefore, his philosophical research regards seeking the way to escape from human's suffering as the responsibility of itself. Meanwhile, The starting point of Wang Guowei's academic research is to seeking the way to escape from human's suffering, too. The philosophical thought and aesthetic thought of Wang Guowei are both originated directly from Schopenhauer's thought. The academic relationship between Wang Guowei and Schopenhauer is very closely. This paper, starting from the viewpiont of the life's extrication, taking methods of one case study and comparing between Chinese and Western, tries to interpret the life's extrication doctrine of Wang Guowei's and Schopenhauer's respectively , and tries to explore the relationship and distinction between Wang Guowei's and Schopenhauer's academic thoughts. By taking chinese-western cultural exchange and fusion as its reference system, this paper emphasizes on finding out the deep reasons which cause diferent thoughts on the life's extrication doctrine between the two people,to deepen the research on life's extrication doctrine, then to broaden theoretical vision and to provide some ideological basis for the construction of modern poetic subject. After deep analyzing and comparing between Wang Guowei's and Schopenhauer's doctrine about life's extrication, the end of the article summarized the limitations and positive significance of their doctrine about life's extrication. Wang Guowei and Schopenhauer are both pay attention to the extricated function of art, which set up a communication bridge between art and life. Wang Guowei and Schopenhauer provide their different ways of aesthetic extrication as reference for modern people's aesthetic poetic inhabitation, that is helpful to realize the aesthetic poetic inhabitation of modern people.
