Wang Guowei's Acceptance And "Misreading" Of Schopenhauer's Tragic Thought

Wang Guowei is the founder of moderm Chinese aesthetics.His aesthetic ideas and methods have an important:influence on Chinese aesthetics.Therefore,academic research on Wang Guowei's aesthetic thought has never stopped.Domestic research on Wang Guowei is very rich.It can be broadly divided into literary criticism research,aesthetic research,philosophy research,and pedagogy research.Among them,literary criticism and aesthetic research mainly focus on literary criticism articles such as"Comments on A Dream of Red Mansions,and "Comments on Ci Poetry".However,most studies are based on Wang Guowei's case studies.The acceptance study is mainly Wang Yiuxin's "Choice,Acceptance and Alienation:Wang Guowei Accepts Schopenhauer and Zhu Guangqian Accepts Croce's Aesthetic Comparative Study",others are scattered in papers and monographs.In view of this research status,this article attempts to study Wang Guowei's acceptance and misreading of the tragedy thought of Schopenhauer.Nowadays it is in a critical period of building the discourse system of Chinese literary theory.Wang Guowei's acceptance of Schopenhauer's study can produce useful inspiration for the localization and globalization of Chinese literary theory.This article begins with the discussion of Schopenhauer's philosophical and tragic thoughts and Wang Guowei's tragic thoughts in order to facilitate the second part of Wang Guowei's acceptance of Schopenhauer's philosophy,aesthetics,and tragedy.Then based on a detailed analysis of Wang Guowei's literary criticism text,this article finds that Wang Guowei's acceptance of Schopenhauer's "painfulness-liberation theory"and"the third type of tragedy theory,as well as the source of tragedy,the way of tragedy liberation,and the function of tragedy in the aspect of'misunderstanding".As a traditional Chinese intellectual,Wang Guowei has a very different life experience from Schopenhauer,who represents the bourgeoisie.This makes Wang Guowei's feelings of loathsomeness and humanism.This makes Wang Guowei's feelings of grief and humanity,and his sense of humanism.Second,Wang Guowei was in the social and historical period of saving the country,which led him to be influenced by the temperament of the times when he accepted Schopenhauer.The difference between the Chinese and Western ways of thinking also made it difficult for Wang Guowei to avoid deviations when he accepted the Schopenhauer concept.Therefore,this article tries to discover the deep reasons of misunderstanding from the aspects of individual,social history,and Chinese and Western ways of thinking.It finally comes to the conclusion that misreading is difficult to avoid and has its value that cannot be ignored.Misreading reflects the complexity of the process of literary acceptance,and literary acceptance also involves the exchange of different cultural systems.Today,when Western culture enters China in a strong way,it is necessary to have a profound understanding of its own culture and other cultures in order to establish a discourse system of Chinese literary theory.We will steadily advance on the basis of equal dialogue.
