Comparison With The Mainstream Values Of China And Spain Through The Way Of Their Proverb Comparison

Language is the cultural carrier, as well as the important way for culture dissemination and inheritance. As the essence of national culture, proverb reflects the national value as the soul of culture. By reasons of the obvious differences at geography, historical background, religious beliefs and ways of thinking, China and Spain vary in national values surely. However,they are not dead differences, when we usually ignore their semilarities.Base on the five value models of the American anthropologist Kluckhohn, that are relationship ton ature, sense of time, human nature, activity and social relationship,as well as the values of Money and Marriage, in this article, we make comparison and analysis with the mainstream values of China and Spain through the way of their proverb comparison. We hope it can enhance mutual understanding and reduce the cultural collision, then lay a solid foundation for the successful cross-cultural cummication.
