Dasein And Verfallen

Martin Heidegger, the prominent representative of existentialism in modern western philosophy, proposed Dasein, Verfallen, the matter toward thinking and other thoughts, which aroused a heated discussion among scholars. As a matter of fact, Heidegger's ponder on Dasein and Verfallen breaks the existing theoretical frame in the past, and vividly presents them as Verfallen, the most relative living phenomenon for human beings, from the perspective of Dasein existence. Whereas, it is a more important theoretical issue to discuss how to explore the deep meaning of Heidegger's Dasein and in what sense Dasein and Verfallen is a more humane and ethical value pursuit.The present thesis expounds the surpass of Dasein over Verfallen from ethical perspective or explains the Heidegger's dream that he is long to poetically dwell on the earth, in hope to reveal the differences between human beings and other beings as well as to display human's dignity and position in this world. The first part accounts three aspects of Verfallen systematically—generally, it is an indulgence of irrational things and hard to extricate oneself; religiously, it is in connection with"sin"and"evil"; ethically, it is a depravity in moral quality. On this basis, the thesis reveals the deep meaning of Verfallen and comprehends its special meaning in Heidegger's works. The second part explains three features and states of Dasein in Heidegger's works by the means the understanding of Verfallen. It reveals the great significance of Verfallen to Dasein and Verfallen the existing form of Dasein. The third part analyzes the theoretical meaning of Verfallen and also the real existing form of Dasein—Verfallen in order to elaborate the reason why human beings are bored, that is, they are always seeking the significance of existence so as to conquer Verfallen, face the future and displays human's potential. The present thesis suggests that Verfallen is the real existing form of Dasein, the displaying and lasting form of Dasein and on the contrary, Dasein tries to surpass Verfallen. The reason for this is that Dasein possesses a purposeful guidance, wich is to obtain a better living pattern; therefore, Dasein has to break away form Verfallen, understand the final existing state of Dasein, constantly work out its significance so as to replace the factual existence by meaningful one and reach the ultimately goal of poetically dwell on the earth.
