Cooperation Of Korea, China And Japan In Film Industry

The scale of the world's film industrial scale reached 21.7 billion U.S.dollars in box office revenue and 53.2 billion U.S.dollars in VHS/DVD revenue in 2003,and it is estimated to be over 80 billion dollars in 2009.It is not small as the film industry itself but what is more important is that its ripple effect on the characteristics of the cultural industry is much bigger. However,the reality is that the world's film industry is dominated by the United States which is represented by Hollywood.Most of the world's top box-office is occupied by Hollywood movies.South Korea,China and Japan are not exception also.The three countries have been showed fairly good performance that accounts for about 50%by their domestic films in their domestic market unlike other most countries,but when we look at their structure in detail we can find that they have a few problems and these problems and Hollywood films which keep evolving at fast speed can drive their film industry into a crisis at any time.If they do not make efforts to overtake American film industry,it might be reality. Why should American film industry monopolize the world's market? Eventually,they should seek cooperation rather than cope each to compete with Hollywood film.It is for protecting their film industry and their domestic market in the passive sense and for expanding to overseas market in active sense.If so,why should be cooperation between three countries? It is because that they share cultural chemistry and they are close geographically,and it facilitates the cooperation.Additionally,it is because that each country of them occupies important position in the world's film industry.Co-productions between them are already making successful cases also.Furthermore,they can share market one another and they can make synergy effect with sharing their each advantage. The role of China is most important in the cooperation.The development speed and the potential of China market is the biggest,and the capital and the film industry of the world are flocking to China,even though film industry in China is showing the appearances that waver for a moment for the reason that getting better of closed market is not visible.Already,most of the joint project that was progressed or is in progress between three countries is underway centered around China,and it is reality that Chinese films are showing the possibility the most in the performance of overseas markets also.The expansion of aggressive and politic cooperation will not be easy with the problems and the market state that is different one another of them,and the encroachment of East Asian market by the United States.However,their advance to world market is difficult without securing the competitiveness against American film that dominates the world market,and even their domestic market can become unstable.Therefore,close cooperation between them is required to continue the film industry as an industry.
