Language delay will seriously lower the standards of children's communication and learning with high incidence. So it's necessary to provide language delayed children with early language intervention which can reduce the damage of language delay. A new intervention theory was brought forward by Dr.Huang, a professor of East China Normal University, in which there were five training stages: training before language, learning words, learning two-word-sentences, learning sentences and learning essays.This research focuses on the second stage, "learning words", which maily contains two parts, assessment and train of words understanding and expressing. With this research, researcher wants to rich the theorise and practice of language intervention of Chinese children, as well as provide model to the researches of "learning two-word-sentences", "learning sentences", and" learning essays".The study process as follows :Firstly, present study situation of assessments and therapy of language delayed children to provide the study bases.Secondly, give researches to the assessment of word-understanding and word-expressing, and compile the "Vocabulary Comprehension Test of Preschool Children"and the "Questionary of First Words' Understanding and expressing"Thirdly, by absorbing advanced research achievements, constructe a therapeutic system of "learning words", and make the therapeutic tools.At last, one case study as the clinical practices indicated that the system of assessment and therapy is effective and practical.
