The Research On Detective Stories Of The Late Qing Dynasty

Detective story raised in the western capitalist society.Then,it was translated into China in the late Qing dynasty period. Chinese detective novels experienced from the translation to the original development process. The translated detective story catalyzed the local detective stories of MinGuo.The paper regards detective stories of the late Qing dynasty as the reseach object. It chooses the detective work of the representative four novels magazines as the center which yielded greatest influence at that time.The first chapter of this thesis is to explore the relationship between detective story and the modernization .First of all ,we must explain why detective stories were translated into China.and what's the social background of late Qing dynasty. The development of the mass media was one of the important factors.By analyzing the detective stories of the four novels (Including legal case) magazines of the Late Qing Dynasty (New Novel, Xiuxiang Novel, Fiction Month, Novel Forest), the paper reveals the relationship between detective story and the mass media.Meanwhile,detective stories of the late Qing Dynasty played a crucial role in reform of Chinese modern literature. From the " legal case novel " to the "detective story",we can see the Modern transformation and reform of Chinese fictions. The Chapter Three of this paper discusses the literary significance of detective stories of the late Qing period .
