A Comparative Study On "Hen" In Chinese And "(?)" In Thai

This paper makes a comparative study about the Chinese word "Hen" and the Thai word "(?)" under the guidance of the theory of Contrastive Linguistics,using comparative study method and Corpus-based method.And the comparative study is mainly about their part of speech,their Significance and their syntax function.By comparing,we found that "Hen" and "(?)" have a lot in common,and there are also many differences.The same points are:"Hen" is an adverb of degree,and "(?)" has the function as an adverb of degree,and sometimes it is equivalent to "Hen";Most of the adjectives,psychological verbs, as well as part of ordinary verbs and some phrases can be modified by them.The differences mainly perform in three aspects:firstly,they belong to different parts of speech,and the specific locations in the adverbs of degree are different;secondly,they have different semantics;thirdly,the syntax of function of them is different.Specifically,"Hen" is an absolute adverb of degree which has high order magnitude,but "(?)" is a multi-category word-it is an adjective,and at the same time it belongs to the adverbs of degree which have to be put at back of the modifiers.In the usage context,both of them have a lot differences when they modify other words and phrases;they are also different when are used with other adverbs;"Hen" seldom appears in the comparative sentence,Salutations,or the sentence which gives order and advice,but "(?)" can;"Hen" can not be overlapped or changed tone,but "(?)" can.
