A Comparative Study On "(?)"&"死" In Korean And Chinese Language

Semanteme is one of the three most important verbal elements. A great number of words and expressions got various semantemes derived from their original ones, with grammaticalization in particular, during the development of language. Death is one of the most influential and inevitable natural phenomenon for mankind, the Korean word "(?)" and Chinese word“死”rank high in use-frequency and diversified semantic contents. Now, we have got more sentential forms derived from them to express various meanings. But in terms of the achievements of scientific researches, researchers prefer researches within their native languages, and have made little efforts in contrastive analysis to the meanings expressed in the Korean word "(?)" and Chinese word "死".This article made an analysis to the semanteme-extension, sentential forms, similarities and differences of these two words from semantic prospects of "(?)"and "死" on the basis of achievements summed up by our predecessors. Its main achievements as following:1, conclusions drawn from the prospect of semanteme-extension of "(?)"and "死" as following:Both of the words carry diversified semantic items, with their contents involving animals, plants, humankind, and the inanimate, without absolute corresponding semantic items. The Korean word "(?)" have got broader semantic items which could modify more inanimates. And the Chinese word“死”varied in characteristics with adverb meanings that Korean lacks of.2, conclusions drawn from the prospect of the pattern type of the two words as following:When using independently, the two words are consistent with the patterns of the collocation of themes and causes, besides make sentences with its verbal functions, the word "死" could go with verbs and adjectives and function as degree complements in the form of degree adverbs. The word "(?)" could express the meaning of "extremely" in the idiomatic forms of "(?)". The patterns made in the word“死”ire more than that in the word "(?)", and this account for the characteristic of language and word-building of Chinese and Korean.This article is trying to contrast the Korean word "(?)" with the Chinese word“死” from the prospect of semanteme and syntax, and hope that it would be helpful to the contrast researches of the two words have yet to be carried out.
