The latest ten years have witnessed the increasing researches in Teacher Action Research(TAR) and the Intercultural Communication(IC) studies respectively both home and abroad.The data from the periodicals,on line and in some databases can prove this tendency.However,Chinese scholars seem to lag behind in the width and depth of researches in Teacher Action Research (TAR),compared with those specialists in other countries and regions.In addition,few college teachers have combined theories in TAR with their teaching practice of Intercultural Communication(IC).Therefore,during her thesis writing period,the writer as well as a teacher-researcher is adopting the research framework and procedures of TAR to carry out her three-semester's teaching practice in Intercultural Communication(IC).In her study,the writer tries to bear out her hypothesis of the existence of students'weakness in their intercultural communication competence and performance,and then diagnoses the possible causes.The overall research structure is in accordance with TAR research paradigm;that is,finding a problem—analyzing the problem—solving the problem.Through this research,the writer is convinced that there indeed exists some cross-cultural communicative weakness upon postgraduates in Donghua University.What's more,by the means of independent IC lecturing in the framework of TAR,the students are able to form a cognitive framework of cultural difference,improve their perception of IC while at the same time,the teacher-researcher can benefit a lot,from the perspective of IC syllabus design,IC teaching methodology and IC evaluation approaches,via self-reflection and the interaction with her students.Finally, the writer hopes,from her teaching practice under the guidance of TAR researching process,that her conducts may popularize the combination of TAR and IC,offer a better approach to cultivating students'cross-cultural awareness,thereafter,more or less promote students'intercultural communication ability.
