Facial feature has a wide influence on people's social life.Western scholars have researched the relationship between facial feature and recruitment decision-making.Results show that examiners in the recruitment process were affected by applicants' facial feature.They tend to hire applicant with high facial attractiveness.Facial features even become a decisive factor when other conditions of applicants are equal.The facial bias in the process of recruitment is contrary to Chinese traditional cultures that educated people don't judge people by appearance.The main purpose of this study is testing whether the facial attractiveness bias existing in Chinese culture.Besides,this study also explored the reasons of facial attractiveness bias and tended to find some ways to eliminate the facial bias.The subjects of this research are University students.The whole study is composed of two simulation experiments and an Implicit Association Test.The influence of applicant's facial attractiveness and their ability to the final recruitment result were examined in experiment One.Experimental result shows that facial attractiveness bias in recruitment process also exists in Chinese culture.When applying for neutral position, applicant's facial attractiveness and ability both have an significantly effect on the final result. However,the influence of ability is greater.Experiment Two is an Implicit Association Test.It focused on the relationship between applicants' facial attractiveness and some important position competencies,which are "communication skills" and "trustworthy" in this study.The experimental results show that the women with high facial attractiveness were viewed as high communication skills;women with low facial attractiveness were viewed as low communication skills.Similarly,women with high facial attractiveness were viewed as more trustworthy,and women with low facial attractiveness were viewed as less trustworthy.The purpose of experiment Three is finding a way to eliminate facial attractiveness bias.The effect of structure evaluation was examined.It was found that the use of structure evaluation can reduce the bias effectively.
