Facial attractiveness means the individual that can evoke positive and pleasant emotions, and produce the will that other people want to close. It is an important way that transferring social emotional information, and also is an important index of human communication. Comparing to averageness, symmetry, and sexual dimorphic feature, facial expression is a varied elements in facial attractiveness, it is important to the effect of facial attractiveness. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of facial expressions on facial attractiveness. We adopted static text and images stimulation and dynamic facial stimulation, inspected the fitness of reinforcement-affect theory of attraction on static and dynamic facial expressions, and many negative emotions. The model of facial attractiveness evaluation on limited human communication prison staffs. The influencing factors of facial attractiveness such as own characteristics of estimators and expressers. And the relationship between static and dynamic facial expressions.Experiment 1 inspected the effect of facial attractiveness evaluation on static stimulation. We used 81 adults and 90 prison stuffs as subjects, their ages range from 22 to 55, and asked them to evaluate 5 basic emotions (happiness/sadness/anger/fear/neutrality). We found that:(1) the static facial expressions accord with reinforcement-affect theory of attraction, the facial attractiveness of happiness is better than neutrality, and the facial attractiveness of neutrality is better than sadness. Both the attractiveness of fear and anger were weak; (2) the gender of expressers and the marital status of estimators affects the facial attractiveness evaluation. The attractiveness of female expressers is better than male expressers, and the attractiveness of unmarried evaluators is better than married evaluators; (3) the model of facial attractiveness evaluation on prison males and normal males is the same; (4) the static stimulate materials have high positive correlation.Experiment 2 examined effect of facial attractiveness evaluation on static stimulation. We used 61 adults as subjects, their ages range from 20 to 40, and we used Morph software to make 10 section dynamic facial expression videos, each section is about 5 s. In the neutral expression outline of expressers, we replaced the outline of internal target expression to a dynamic face with happy/angry/sad/fear/neutral expression. They also evaluate 5 basic emotions (happiness/sadness/anger/fear/neutrality). And we found that:(1) the dynamic facial expressions also accord with reinforcement-affect theory of attraction,; (2) the static and dynamic facial expressions is low correlation. From the angle of the change, we used dynamic facial expressions that have higher ecological validity, and make it to compare with static expressions. Our study strengthens the reinforcement-affect theory of attraction, and discusses the influence factors of facial attractiveness. It can provide the experience and reference to understand facial expressions affect to facial attractiveness.
