A Study Of Homosexual Novels Influenced By The Male Homosexuality In Late Ming Dynasty

There appeared a lot of homosexual novels in the vernacular novel-trend in late Ming dynasty.This article selects the homosexual novels,which were influenced by the male homosexuality in late Ming dynasty,as the object of study and takes the modern homosexuality theory as the reference to study them wholly.The male homosexuality was in vogue in late Ming dynasty,and the appearance of homosexual novels had a close relation with it,especially the infiltration of male homosexuality enabled the novels to have the male homosexuality characteristics.In the introduction,the title of this paper has been explained to clear and to define the object of study.Furthermore,the research significance and the present situation of research have been elaborated.In the first chapter,the popularity of the male homosexuality and the free atmosphere of public opinion in late Ming dynasty have been explained.The phenomenon influenced the writing of homosexual novels positively.A great many of novels touched on the homosexuality phenomenon.Meanwhile,there also appeared the homosexuality-topic novels.There were both the collections of homosexual novels and the single ones which can be seen here and there in other novel collections.A summary of those has been written in this chapter.In the second chapter,the text of the homosexual novels has been studied in detail. There also appeared in the novels a variety of names to name the homosexuals.All these names have the emotional colors,and some of witch displays obviously the despising to homosexuals.There are five kinds of characters in those novels.In ancient China,the homosexuals were clearly divided to tops and bottoms,therefore the homosexuals had been separated into two kinds of groups with distinctive boundary.Influenced by this kind of relation,all of those people,such as the agencies who facilitated the homosexuality,the wives and concubines of the homosexuals,the prostitutes whose jobs were impacted,are worth paying attention to.If we take the sentiment as the starting point to analyze the homosexual novels, these novels may divide into three groups:on human nature,on the friendship,and on the affection.The three kinds of different sentimental types have reflected three kinds of different homosexuality relations.In the third chapter,the homosexual novels are studied in the flood of novels in late Ming dynasty.In this way,we may find out the complicated relations between the homosexual novels and the other ones,such as the sexual affection novels,the novels of manners and the short-vernacular stories.By analyzing these relations,we can research the homosexual novels in late Ming dynasty as a whole,and understand correctly their status and influence in the novel history.In the attached chapter,the writer continued to elaborate the aftereffects to the homosexual novels at the beginning of Qing Dynasty.The homosexual novels in this period had inherited the characteristics of the late Ming dynasty's,and the homosexual novels throughout the Qing Dynasty were affected to a great extent.
