Fear of failure in foreign countries has been more and more concern to scholars as a kind of negative emotion experience. This research on the basis of Chinese culture background and foreign studies of fear of failure, using questionnaire survey, we proposed the questionnaire of fear of failure of high school students. We developed a four-component construction of fear of failure. We used the independent sample T test and one-way analysis of variance to analyze the difference of demographic variables in the dimensions of fear of failure among different high school students. We adopted correlation analysis and regression analysis to explore the relationship between the fear of failure and self- esteem social support. And we also discussed if the self-esteem had significant influence on fear of failure and if social support played a role of intermediaries at the impact on self-esteem to fear of failure. Main conclusions of this research are as following:Firstly, the fear of failure of high school students should be a multidimensional variable consist of social values to reduce, others to respect, uncertain future and low self-evaluation.Secondly, high school students fear failure in a significant difference in gender, specifically in the social values to reduce the boys scored significantly higher than girls; the two dimensions of uncertain future and low self-evaluation girls' scores were significantly higher than boys'.Thirdly, fear of failure, self-esteem and social support had significant correlation with each other. There were significant negative correlations in self-esteem and social support which were of fear of failure,Fourth, self-esteem make the positive contribution to fear of failure;social support of subjective support, objective support and the use of support are make the different positive contribution to fear of failure, the strongest is subjective support. Finally, social support played a role of some intermediaries at the impact on self-esteem to fear of failure.
