Language Learning Strategy is the behaviors,procedures or skills used in learning a second language to improve the language study.It is considered that the learning strategies can promote the internalization,storage,retrieval,and use of a second language.The success of learning Chinese as a second language is based on the use of Chinese Learning Strategy. Meanwhile,the use of Chinese Learning Strategy is influenced by individual factors such as gender,age,native language,time length in learning Chinese,Chinese level,etc.This thesis systematically analyzes in details the correlation between individual factors and learning strategy among the non-native Chinese speakers who study in China.There are five parts altogether.The first part introduces the definition and categorization of learning strategy,while summarizing the development of Chinese learning strategy in China at well. The second part is the experiment design.The third to fifth part are the major parts of the thesis.By statistically analyzing the answers of the questionnaire,we find out the influence from individual factors on application of the learning strategies,thus putting forward the means of utilizing learning strategies efficiently based on individual differences.The third part is the result and interpretation of the statistical analysis.The fourth part analyzes the correlation between five individual factors as gender,age,native language,time length in learning Chinese,Chinese level and learning strategies.It is shown that integrated learning strategy was not influenced by gender,age,native language,time length in learning Chinese, but by Chinese level.And direct strategy and indirect strategy are influenced by gender and time length in learning Chinese respectively.Among the six substrategies,metacognitive strategy was affected by native language,social strategy by gender,native language,and Chinese level,compensation strategy by gender,memory strategy by age and Chinese level. The fifth part analyzed the current problems in applying learning strategy learning Chinese among foreign students,and put forward the practical means to make learning strategy more efficient by taking individual factors into consideration.Although resultant force from six substrategies made four individual factors but Chinese level irrelevant to integrated learning strategy,every learning strategy is influenced in reality by individual factors to certain extent.
