On C.T.Hsia's Study Of Classic Chinese Novel

C.T.Hsia is a famous oversea sinologist,who gained a great achievement in the study of Chinese fiction and classic Chinese novel.By taking the advantage of his double cultural identity ,he analysed and elaborated works of classic Chinese novel in the whole history of Chinese and western literature .With the broad vision and his own humanistic concerns,he created a special narrative way of literature history.This paper trys to analyse C.T.Hsia's research on classic Chinese literature.From his representative work on classic novel The Clssic Chinese Novel,we try to find out his critical method and moral standpoint,as well as the distinguishing features of this monograph.At last,we want to focus further on C.T.Hsia's novel concept.The Classic Chinese Novel resummarized and judged works of classic Chinese novel.It became a great monograph with its international view.It's pioneering,and it contains Hsia's Chinese-foreign academic insight and distinctive critical vision.Then it is reputed to be the initial and classical work.Because of this,C.T.Hsia was firmly established as an authority in the western sinology research field,which also has directly or indirectly influenced the domestic classic novel research.
