Criticism On The Correspondence Theory Of Turth-toward Sense-based Construction Theory

Philosophy has been exploring the truth problem since its date of birth.The correspondence theory of truth which has a long glorious history is the most influential among the various truth theories.And Aristotle's saying'to say not is yes and yes is not is false;to say reality is reality and the false is the false is true' is the classical expression.With the development of philosophy,the correspondence theory of truth has experienced different phases.In my essay, I discuss its developing process in three stages:the classical correspondence theory of truth,the modern correspondence theory of truth and Kant' s view of truth.Although each theory has its different form,they have the same fundamental idea, that is:the objective world exists without Man's soul.And the only description of its reality is subject's accordence with object.With the development of Coherence theory truth,pragmatism and Hermeneutics,the correspondence theory of truth has been criticized severely,and also its shortcomings exposed.This article demonstrates the basis of the correspondence theory of truth's existence by "compound eyes person" experiment -feeling and experience are not reliable.They cannot reflect the objective world actually.Truth doesn' t originate from them. In this essay,hypothesis of dream and brains in a vat are also used to support the idea.Since feeling and experience cannot become the foundation of human communication and cannot lay a foundation for the truth either,the article further inquires about the source of the truth.In the process of communication, the physical object with the psychological image which is caused by the physical object can be changed with each other. By reasoning,the article draws the conclusion finally: meaning is transcendental which can lay a foundation for the physical object being perceived by mind.And the truth should be a mental construction which is built on transcendental meaning.
